having to unset structuredDataNode entries before save

I have a structured data type that has two file assets and a text box. When I save the entry in cascade, then get it via webservices in php I get back all of the properties with NULL as the value for the two file assets when they don't have anything selected. This shouldn't be a problem, but often I can't just edit the one property I want on the object and turn around and save it.

I have found that I have to unset the entries from the array if I want to update say the text box value and they aren't pointing at anything. We are running 6.7.4 - is this something that is fixed in 6.8? Or, is this just because my old "asset factory" asset has those extra values in the xml?

Anyway, This means I have to build some very specific classes to abstract that logic. But, before I do...I wanted to check...am I missing something? Is there a way to "edit" but only pass in the properties that are changing?

I've tried using both SoapClient and Zend_Soap_Client in Soap 1.1 mode.

Just thought I would ask.

    Hi Dan,

I realize it has been a very long time since you posted this. I noticed this discussion while going over some old posts. I assume you have this working now, but I wanted to let you know (or anyone else who stumbled across this post) that I believe the behavior you are looking for was included in Cascade 6.8:
