Velocity Context of Cascade and are unavailable outside.
Unfortunately testing the full context of what can be done with
Cascade isn't going to be replicable outside of Cascade. There are
certain tools and variables that we create to facilitate working
with the language.</p>
<p>One thing I can suggest is asking for a dummy Site in your
instance. Maybe someone could setup a Site that doesn't publish, or
that publishes to a protected staging area, for you to create
Velocity scripts and test pages for learning.</p>
<p>Depending on the type of license that your organization has, you
might also have a few extra licenses for other instances of
Cascade. Other instances specifically for development/testing
externally of your production instance. You might be able to get a
Site on one of those machines if they exists.</p>
<p>Does this help at all?</p></div>Charlie Holdertag:help-archives.hannonhill.com,2010-02-09:Comment/126658182012-01-23T23:01:58Z2012-01-23T23:01:58ZDevelopment/Testing Environment<div><p>I was looking for more of an external resource that I could get
instant results from. We do have test environments set up I just
wanted to do something outside of cascade.</p>
<p>Basically the tasks of going to the script clicking edit...
save... go view the page its being used on ect... Is too much when
I want to see the results of what I am testing (I often forget what
I was testing by the time I get done).</p>
<p>I was looking for something more like how I use stylus studio
with XSLT. Within Stylus Studio I just click 'play' and it runs my
XSLT against the XML and gives me the output and any errors (in
detail) immediately. Once I get the XSLT where I want it I then
paste it into Cascade.</p>
<p>So I am mainly looking for an external editor/environment set up
of some kind.</p>
<p>Would there be a way to do this maybe on our test cascade server
itself? Given the specific velocity engines would be installed on
that server?</p></div>tmaytag:help-archives.hannonhill.com,2010-02-09:Comment/126658182012-01-26T20:15:49Z2012-01-26T20:15:49ZDevelopment/Testing Environment<div><p>Unfortunately there is not a way at this time to setup a testing
environment for working with Velocity outside of Cascade.</p></div>Charlie Holder
