pull info from a block on another site
We're setting up the calendar Cascade posted on GitHub and I'm trying to pull a location from blocks on another site. When I look at the xml on the page, it doesn't appear to be pulling the content from that block. Do we need to recreate the location blocks on the calendar site? Or move the existing blocks to the _common site?
<location> <content/>
<path>/_internal/blocks/addresses/classes-events/classroomA</path>
<site>citizensmemorial.com</site>
<name>classroomA</name> </location>

Hi Lauren,
Just to confirm, are you using a Block chooser within the page's Data Definition? If so, edit the Data Definition with the chooser and make sure the Render Content Depth option under advanced is set to at least 4. This should ensure the Block's content is included when the Page's structured data is rendered.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Ryan,
I've been trying to figure this out all day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thanks Ryan. That fixed the xml and I'm now pulling in the actual content.
I also changed the format to use the SerializerTool instead of the EscapeTool, since our block is using WYSIWYG content.

Not a problem at all. I am glad to hear that did the trick.
Have a great day!

Now that I have my actual event pages squared away, I'm looking at the calendar page, and the events are showing up several times on the day they are scheduled - 12 times.

That is definitely interesting. Is this the on the page with the full calendar? Did you make any modifications to Formats besides the event details?

Ryan,
This was happening on the full calendar page (index) before I even modified the formats to pull in the blocks. At first, I thought it was the way I set up the events to repeat, so I changed them to “Once” in the repeat section and I created a new event just to try and determine if it was something in the way I created the initial event. I also checked the all events index block and each class is showing in that one time.

Thank you for clarification, Lauren, I have not encountered this behavior before. Do you happen to have a URL you can share so I can take a closer look? If not, perhaps we can start a new private discussion so I can take a closer look at your Cascade Server instance?

I don’t have it set up to publish at all. I’ll start a new private discussion.

Sounds good, Lauren. I'm going to go ahead and close this discussion in favor of the new one.
