A couple of things that jump out:

Is there a reason you are using
$!section...

syntax? I believe this suppresses the output

You are using
$sections
instead of

$section

I would definitely look into using XPath Tool and saving

imgBgd
as a variable so the markup is easier to
read

You will want to check
path != '/'
to make sure an
image is even chosen.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Ryan Griffithtag:help-archives.hannonhill.com,2010-02-09:Comment/379071642015-09-11T17:51:42Z2015-10-26T20:43:49ZVelocity inline css [system-asset] not pulling image

I actually created a new variable for my background and it
worked. The one thing I kept overlooking was the exclamation point,
...I think after looking at it for so long I just wasn't seeing
that error. Thanks for your help

nicbantag:help-archives.hannonhill.com,2010-02-09:Comment/379071642015-09-11T19:37:30Z2015-09-11T19:37:30ZVelocity inline css [system-asset] not pulling image

Thank you for following up, I am glad to hear you were able to
