Tim stated in the following case:
http://help.hannonhill.com/discussions/general/21455-java-8-and-cascade-7125
That I would be able to install with the JAR file and it would auto-update Java. Is this not the case?

Hi,
The JAR file comes with the updated version of Java for Cascade to use, but this appears to show an issue with the installer piece not being able to run due to the version of java on the machine (which seems strange to me). Can you try upgrading your version of Java on the machine to 1.8 (using OpenJDK for just the installer should be fine) and then try running the installer again?
Sorry you ran into this. Let me know how things go and I'll be happy to help troubleshoot further.
Thanks

I think there may have been some initial confusion on my end regarding the installers. The executable installer will use the bundled JRE (1.8) when it runs, but the other installers will require that 1.8 already be installed on the machine.

Could this pre-install of JRE 1.8 be alleviated by using the BIN installer instead?

Yes, I believe the BIN installer will unpack the JRE and use it to run the GUI. Let me know how things go.
Thanks

Tim,
Using the BIN installer worked without issue.
Thanks,
Caleb
