How do I limit the type of files that users can upload?
We would like to limit the types of files that can be uploaded to Cascade - preferrably implemented so that some users/groups/roles can have more freedom than others.
There is the File Type Limit plugin - but this would be time consuming to add to all of our asset factories, and to remember to add to all new asset factories, as well as any time a change is needed, we would have to again go through all of these asset factories and update.
Thank you,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
The File Limit Plug-in was created specifically for this scenario as you mentioned. It is the only way to prevent users from uploading certain types of files at the current time.
You mentioned that you are looking to make it so that certain users/groups/roles have more freedom than others when it comes to uploading certain files. This could be done by applying the plug-in to an Asset Factory, then limiting which groups have the ability to use that particular Asset Factory (via the Applicable Groups field).
Hope this helps.

The File Limit Plugin is not a feasible solution for us, for the reasons mentioned in our post. We need a way to set a default set of permitted file types, and then a way to allow specific users/groups/roles to have additional file types available to them.
I guess I will add this to Cascade Ideas?
