Since cascade runs under innodb engine in mysql I was curious if
there was anything stopping a database infrastructure set up around
the Galera or Percona cluster for Cascade. It would be nice to set
up a multimaster enviroment for performance increases and/or
offsite hosting. I didn't find any discussion from the search and
was wondering.

I'll post the limitations just below.

My apologies for the delayed response.

Unfortunately, we do not have much experience with these
products, but our understanding is they are both wrappers around
MySQL and the InnoDB engine and should theoretically be able to
substitute MySQL.

For MariaDB, we do not believe there are any transactions that
would reach the transaction limits. One red flag is the
following:

The Query cache should not be used with Galera Cluster (source:
Codership Google Group)

We are guessing Galera Cluster has some other mechanism for
query caching. Since we do not have much experience with this, are
you aware of what this may be?

Because we do not have much experience with these products and
have done no testing with them, we can not officially support them.
That being said, if you feel you are comfortable with this, we
would love to hear how things work out during and after the process
of setting things up and if you do in fact see performance or
redundancy improvements.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Ryan Griffith
