Using an index block from another site

Is it possible to use an index block from another site? My university's news releases are not located in the site where I wanted to insert a news feed. If I can't use an index block this way, do you have another idea of how to reuse the content or make this work? Thanks.

Yes, it is possible since version 6.2.

When generating the links in your Format to the news releases on the other site, you'll want to use the <link> element instead of <path>, since it provides the cross-site link syntax (site://SITENAME/path/to/news/release vs. /path/to/news/release).

Well, I thought I knew what you meant but I can't get it to work. I have a stylesheet that uses this line of code <xsl:value-of select="display-name"/> . It's currently in the Global area and I use it for other sections of the website. I copied the stylesheet and made a new stylesheet in a new site. I need the display-name in the index block located in the Global area to work using the stylesheet in the new site. The index block's path in the Global area is located in /swosu/internal/blocks/index/short-news-list. I tried the following in the stylesheet in the new site and it didn't work. <xsl:value-of-select="site://Global/swosu/internal/blocks/index/short-news-list/display-name"/>. I'm so confused. Thanks for your help.

The following line of code in your XSLT format:
<xsl:value-of select="display-name"/> is used to output the Display Name of the asset from the index block. As Syl mentioned above, you really just want to change the way the link is being generated by your XSLT Format. To do this, you likely just need to change something like<a href="{path}"> to <a href="{link}"> and leave the part that outputs the Display Name untouched.
