Can't start Cascade server
I am having a lot of trouble starting Cascade. I have installed
it (via the Java package) and everything is installed correctly. I
have root privileges and my database is setup correctly. I was
actually able to get the server started yesterday, but today it
won't start up again for some reason.
The main error I'm getting is that when I start it, it doesn't give
me any output back (except for the paths it's using) and it doesn't
actually start. When I go to stop it (knowing it's not started), I
get an error saying java doesn't exist at this path:
/usr/local/Cascade Server/jre/bin/java
When I checked, that path is valid and java does exist! I'm not
really sure what's going on and why it's saying java doesn't
exist.
Any ideas?

Never mind. This is solved now. It was either the fact that I was running Ubuntu or the fact that Ubuntu itself was 64-bit. Switching to 32-bit Fedora seemed to solve all the issues I was having.

Aaron,
On second thought, I believe you were running into a simple environment configuration issue related to either permissions or something within the OS configuration, specifically your shell paths. Cascade has and does run well on Ubuntu as well as 64 bit, so neither should have been an issue. Were you ever able to deduce what the issue was after moving to Fedora however?
Thanks!

I wasn't able to figure out what was going wrong when I had it running on Ubuntu 64-bit. I had tried all sorts of things before, and one of them was modifying my path variable. The most frequent error I got when in Ubuntu was that java didn't exist or that the path didn't point to the correct place, but whenever I corrected it, it said the file it was looking for didn't exist (but it did). I even tried installing java myself and making cascade point to that, but it kept giving me the message that the file it was looking for didn't exist.
I had our linux system admin look at it (who is much better at linux than myself) and he was just as confused by the errors and reasons why it wasn't working.
