How to create a parent-folder index block

Hi,

I have run into a problem using blocks to create navigation menu links.

I have some department pages in a folder called "departments". I have created a velocity format to create the menu using an index for the departments folder.

Now I want to use the same template, formats and menus in a different folder. And I may want to reuse it in other places too. I don't want to have to keep creating new indices on every containing folder.

Is there a way to create a generic "parent-folder" index block?

Thanks,

Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

If I'm reading your question correctly and you are trying to create menu links based on assets in the parent folder, then I would suggest creating an index block that:
    1. Has no "index folder" set
    2. Starts at the current page with folder hierarchy, and also include siblings

This would return information for all assets that are a higher level in the folder hierarchy than where you currently are, thereby including information for the parent folder and its contents.

    Hope this helps!
