Those sites rely on Adobe Flash for that functionality, and Cascade is committed to remaining plugin-independent. It is not possible to select multiple upload files in the major browsers; this is a proposed feature of HTML5, so it may be a future possiblity.

Currently, you would need to either:

Set up an Asset Factory for File assets that the user could use to upload files one at a time to a chosen Folder. It would be possible to change the workflow settings of either the Asset Factory or the selected Folder so that no Workflow is required to upload files.

Grant the user the "Upload images from the wysiwyg image upload popup" ability via a Site Role. This would allow them to upload an image directly from the Chooser dialog while placing a new image in the WYSIWYG or on a Structured Data page. This ability requires that the user be able to bypass Workflow in the selected upload Folder.
