Subject: Web Services Connection to Ellucian Liferay Portal?
Description:
Hi All,
We are wondering if we can connect our CMS DB/content to our Ellucian Liferay Portal version 5.3 (Liferay 6.2)?
It utilizes CMIS Repository(WebAtom) or CMIS Repository (Web Services).

Hi Jay,
Let me loop our Services team in on this to see if they can provide more information for you. In the meantime, I can speak on my experience with integrating the two when I was at Millersville University.
While at Millersville, I had developed a portlet (based on the JSR-286 spec if I recall) that was configurable with a root path field and a starting page field. At a high level, what it did was read the given "starting page" HTML file, rewrite links to internal pages and files within the content, and render it within the portlet. The layout would also change based on the portlet's state (i.e. normal and fullscreen). The actual content was maintained within Cascade and simply published to the portal's local file system so it could be consumed by the various portlet(s) that were added.
As you mentioned, you could also go the feed or iframe portel route and simply publish content from Cascade to a web server so it can be consumed by the portal, but at the time going the custom portlet route seemed like a much more robust solution.
If you are interested, I can try to put you in touch with someone over at Millersville University who might be able to provide more specifics about the implementation.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi Jay,
I reached out to them to see if they'd be willing to get in touch with you directly. In the meantime, I went ahead and made this discussion public in-case there are other clients who have experience and want to chime in.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
