Hi,
Currently, mp4 is not a registered MIME type so Cascade will most likely serve the file with an incorrect MIME type during rendering. The browser may be able to detect the correct MIME, but that's a long shot.
What you will need to do is manually add the MIME type so Cascade knows how to serve the file. Once this has been done, it would be up to the browser to determine how to serve it to you.
To register the MIM type:
tomcat\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes\com\hannonhill\cascade\model\render\mime
directoryNote: this file is replaced during upgrades, so you will need to re-apply the change after upgrading.
Looking forward, we will be adding a number of MIME types in Cascade 8, including mp4.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hello Ryan,
When uploading my mp4 file to cascade, I keep getting file character encode issues. Does cascade renders mp4s? or is this normal?, I have not publish the file yet.

Hi,
Ryan is out of the office at the moment so I figured I'd chime in here. You mentioned:
Can you describe this behavior in more detail or provide a screen shot? Are you just saying that viewing the file after uploading it in Cascade shows a bunch of character content as opposed to displaying the video?
If you're still having trouble after running through the steps Ryan provided above, feel free to attach a copy of your mp4 file here (if under 10MB) and I'll be happy to try it locally.
Thanks
