I would like to have the availability of adding calendar events to device calendar clients. Is there a way of substituting the “Download as XML” – this feature doesn’t work anyway – to an “Add to Calendar” function? Does Cascade have the availability?

Thanks,
Phillip

    Hi Phillip,

This is definitely possible, but depends on your use case. For example, you can:

    • Have Cascade generate an .ics or .ical output for each individual event and provide a link for the user to download the file. If they have a calendar application installed, this should allow them to add the event; otherwise, they should be able to import it into their online calendar (e.g. Google calendar). You would essentially mimic the iCal output on the index page, but just for the single event instead of all events
    • Use a third party service to generate the "add to calendar" functionality and simply pass data about the event to the service using a Format
    • Similar to the above item, create a script on your website that generates a file or hooks into a third party service based on passed information about your event

For additional information about generating this sort of content I found this article when doing a quick Google search.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
