Trying to restrict operations (delete, move, rename, etc) on folder assets
I have a folder asset defined in my Asset Factory for the site. I need to try and limit the types of operations that users can perform on folders. I tried using Workflows, but found out that wowrkflows don't apply to folder assets.
Right now my site contributors have read/write access to the content folders on the site, which means they can delete a folder without any workflow approval or oversight. What I would like to be able to do is setup the folder so that but only certain groups can modify the folder itself (delete, move, rename) , but everyone is still able to create Page assets underneath that folder using a workflow.

Unfortunately I can't think of a combination of access rights/abilities that will allow for this. The main issue, as you've noticed, is that Write access to a Folder (needed so that Users can create assets inside that Folder) will inherently provide them with the option for deleting that Folder.
There appear to be 2 related ideas on our Idea Exchange that could really help out in this scenario.
The first one (which you are aware of) is the Ability to apply a Workflow to a Folder asset.
The other one I would encourage you (and others reading this post) to vote on is this one:
Limiting Delete rights per user/group/role
I've gone ahead and added my votes to both of those as I can see the need for this functionality.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks
