Allow publishing in just one folder
I have a site where we want one group to have access, but no publishing rights, and another to be able to publish just the contents of one folder, not the entire site.
How do I do that?
Thank you,
Allan

Hi Allan,
For the first group, you would simply add the users to a group who is assigned to a Site Role that is set not to be able to publish, then either set all of your content to ALL READ, or add the group to whatever folder(s) you wish to give the group access to.
For the second group, I think you will need to use two groups. Basically, you add the users to both groups and then assign one group to your Site Role that can't publish and the other group to a Site Role that can publish. Then, for each folder you want to restrict publishing, add the group who can't publish to that folder, but not the group that can. For the folder(s) you want to allow publishing, add the group that can publish.
Note: you may need to start the Site's permissions out as ALL NONE to be able to accomplish this, otherwise both groups would have access to the content and the users would always be able to publish.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi Ryan,
Thank you for the reply — I had tried most of what you outlined but never thought about starting with ALL NONE. That seems to do the trick,
Thank you,
Allan

Not a problem at all, Allan. I am glad to hear you were able to work through getting your permissions set up.
