Multi-Site Permissions
I have a general user who I would like to duplicate their current permissions on one site to a different site.
I have gotten as far as allowing them to edit pages on the new site, but that's it. They can't:
- Upload anything
- Add folders
- Edit metadata
I cannot seem to figure out what I am missing (I am sure it's something simple as usual)! What I have done so far is:
- The user already has "global permissions"
- I added the roles and groups to the new site, replicating the original
- I went to the "Base Folder" and granted the group write access
- The "Effective Abilities" of the user are the same for both sites
Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Chris,
If the user is not able to create new assets, check your Asset Factories (and Asset Factory Containers) to be sure their group is listed within the Applicable Groups. This field determines what groups are able to see the items within the New menu.
When you say Edit metadata, are you referring to the Metadata pane when editing an asset, or Metadata within the Site Administration section? If the former, as long as the user is able to edit the asset, they should see the Inline Metadata above the data definition and Metadata pane, since there is no user/group restriction on these fields. If the later, make sure the user's Role has the ability to see the Metadata section within the Site's Administration area and they have write access to the Metadata Set.
To clarify, did you create a new Site Role here that is the same as the original? If so, unless they have different abilities, you would be much better off re-using the existing Role by assigning that Role to the Site and adding the user/group to the Role. This way you only have to maintain one Role as opposed to many that have the same abilities.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Thank you for following up, Chris.
So to confirm, is the user just not able to see the desired Metadata Set? If so, the user's Role would need the following in order to browse Metadata Sets within the Site within the chooser:
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
