Site name different than server name
We created a new site "www-new" in Cascade Server so we could redesign our site without accidentally overwriting our old site. We don't actually have a CNAME www-new, but I'm able to publish to www-dev.tamu.edu just fine, and expect to change the destination when we go live.
When I try to use the same template/content type on another site, the published pages include links to "www-new.tamu.edu/style.css" (not even an http in front of the the URL). I tried to use Web URLs to indicate that the links should be written as www-dev for now, but it isn't working, Is there an easy solution?

Hi Michael,
It sounds as though you may have also entered
www-new
into the Site's URL field, which is used for cross-site linking. To confirm, view your Site within the Site Management area and check the value for the URL field.Based on your description, I would suggest using
http://www-dev.tamu.edu
for the URL, or//www-dev.tamu.edu
if you wish to generate scheme-relative links.Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Our system admins are the only ones who can view the Site Management area, let alone edit it. If they removed the Site URL, could I control cross-linking myself? Or should I ask them to change it to //www-dev.tamu.edu for now, then change it to www.tamu.edu when the site goes live?

Hi Michael,
The URL field is required because it is used for cross-site linking, so your administrators would need to update the value.
Correct, I recommend having them update the URL to
//www-dev.tamu.edu
and then change it later when you're ready.Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
