We have Smart Publishing checked in System Preferences > Content.

By the definition given on http://www.hannonhill.com/kb/System-Preferences/, it seems like it should only publish assets that have changed or been deleted.

However, when we publish a site (by selecting the base folder and going to the publish tab), it publishes everything, regardless of the fact that several assets have not changed or been updated. I have checked the timestamps for the files on our servers and Cascade rewrites every file each time we publish, not just the changed files.

Is there something that we are missing to make this work?

Thanks!

Smart Publishing only applies to File assets in the system (not Page assets). So, if you change a .css or .js file in Cascade Server (and it has already been published in the past to your web server), it will republish those files. If those files have not been modified since they were last published, they will not be published again.

Let me know if this helps to clear things up.

Timtag:help-archives.hannonhill.com,2010-02-09:Comment/26218182010-08-18T19:12:21Z2010-08-18T19:12:21ZSmart Publishing does not seem to work

Hi Tim,

Yes, that seems to make sense. Would the files include documents, PDFs, and images as well?

Is there any way to have Cascade check if page assets have been changed and only publish those that have?

Thanks!

Currently there is no way to do the equivalent of a Smart Publish with Page assets.
