Our web site News editor has a process where he moves (via
Move/Rename) page assets from folder A to another folder B.
Folder B is being indexed and sorted by Folder Order (descending)
to display a short list of news articles in body the News area home
page.

The expectation is that the last page assets moved to Folder B
would be added at the end of the folder list (last page assets seen
in the Folder Order). What we see is that these page assets being
moved end up intermingled in the Folder's asset order. They are not
placed at the bottom of the folder nor do they appear in
consecutive order.

However when using Copy (instead of Move/Rename) from Folder A
to Folder B the page assets show up at the bottom of the folder
list (end of the folder order) and are listed in consecutive
order.

How does the Folder Order get determined on a Move versus a Copy
(or a new creation)?

Is there a way to force the Move to place the moved page assets
at the bottom (highest order number) of the destination folder?

Working with Cascade version 6.8.3.1 - 12c39 in the Global
Area.

You are correct in that the Folder copy will set the order to
the last item and the Move/Rename is a bit more random, because a
copy is creating a new asset all-together and the move/rename is
relocating an existing asset. I have also confirmed this behavior
in Cascade 7.

The workaround here would be to reorder the asset after it is
relocated by using either the drag 'n drop method or the reorder
arrows to the right of the asset listing (there is an arrow to send
to the bottom).

If you feel this would be a good feature to add to Cascade, feel
free to submit this to the <a href=

status.

Please let is know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks.

Ryan Griffith
