problem with pdf files
Hello,
In my organisation we use Cascade Server for managing our
website. We went online a few days ago, and I have a problem with
pdf files. I can upolad them and they appear in the pdf folder, but
when I click on a link to a pdf document (to make sure it's there),
my browser hangs and I have to close it. I use Internet Explorer 8.
I will be grateful for a solution to this problem.

Hi Karol,
Just a few questions to see if we can narrow things down a bit:
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

Hi Ryan,
All pdf files that were uploaded have the .pdf extension. I don't have any problems opening pdf files elsewhere, including our website (you can see it if you like, it's http://esm.europa.eu/index.htm
I only use Internet Explorer, so I can't say how it is with other browsers.
Kind regards,
Karol

Hi Karol,
Thank you for the follow up.
I suspect there may be an issue with either Internet Explorer or Adobe Reader when Cascade attempts to "preview" the PDF file within the preview pane.
When you have a moment, try the suggestions on this Microsoft page to see if we can rule this out.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

Hi Ryan,
You were right that it was an issue with the browser. Even with the solutions in the discussion thread, the pdf problem persisted with IE8. I don't like IE9, so I tried Mozilla Firefox, and all links to pdf docs open normally.
Thanks,
Karol

Hi Karol,
Thank you for the follow up, it definitely sounds IE specific. I'm curious, did you try to uninstall and re-install your Adobe Reader/Acrobat?
