directory with the same name. The scenario is as follows:
Projects directory
Projects-new directory
Rename Projects to Projects-archive
Rename Projects-new to Projects.
If the Projects directory is renamed to Projects-archive then all
the managed links pointing to that will change. How can we replace
a directory with one with the same name without first assigning the
original directory a temporary name?

charles.brownrobertstag:help-archives.hannonhill.com,2010-02-09:Comment/351760512014-11-04T19:07:02Z2014-11-04T19:07:02ZTracked Links

Hi Charles,

Your steps are definitely a valid way of accomplishing this;
however, as you mentioned this will lead to existing relationships
pointing to the new, "archived" location.

Another way to accomplish this and to help minimize the need to
update existing relationships would be to copy the original folder
to an "archived" name and overwrite the existing assets. This way
the existing relationships remain intact.

Either way, you may need to update relationships somewhere
during the process. With your method, it's more obvious where the
incorrect relationships are because they will be pointing to the
archived folder, as opposed to perhaps not pointing to an asset at
all (if there are links to assets that were removed in the new
folder).

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Ryan Griffith
