Problem assigning Site roles in Cascade 7.0.1
I'm not sure if this was in Cascade 7.0, but we're now in 7.0.1 and I've noticed a problem with assigning Roles to Sites in the Site Management area. Creating a new Site and then editing it to assign Roles results in a list of numbers in the left hand box instead of Role names (see attached example1.png). Moving those numbers from the left to right panes and then submitting does not change anything. Editing again only shows the all the numbers back in the left pane.
Something similar goes for previously existing Sites. In these cases editing the Site in the Site Management area and looking at the Roles shows the numbers at the top, but any previously chosen Roles still show as appropriate below that. The numbers in the top pages, however, show some on the left and some on the right (see attached example2.png). I imagine the right numbers are supposed to correspond to the Roles show below, but they don't seem to correspond to IDs that I'm aware of.
Anyway, this makes the creation of new Sites difficult since I can't seem to assign Roles and hence provide access. For previous Sites assigned Roles are fine but I can't adjust them.

Thanks Erik. I was able to confirm this as well.
I'll be creating a bug for this shortly and I will link it back to this discussion.

The related issue can be found here.
Thanks for the report, Erik. We'll look to correct this in the very next patch release.
Apologies for the inconvenience.

I'm seeing a similar issue - previously working permissions set in 6.10.9 prior to upgrade have stopped working for lower level non-admin publishers since upgrading to 7.0.1. All I get is a blank screen when logging in with my user account, but my admin account is fine. Anyone with Contributor Role is not working.

Sorry, can you clarify and include a screenshot? Is this related to the Access tab on assets or the Site Role assignments when editing Sites? Would like to make sure we're not dealing with two separate issues here.
Thanks!

Bradley,
I think this is a similar issue as I did not have Site Roles assigned in
my JMU site prior to upgrade we had just been using Global Roles, so at
this point I have no ability to give the users of this site Roles due to
the other bug erikg is seeing. My admin users can get in just fine, but
no one else can see anything under Base Folder. First SS is of my user
roles and second is what I see when I login.
Regards,
@lvin

Hi Alvin,
Can you tell me if your user is set to use a Default Site under their preferences on login? If so, I think you are running into the same issue that Erick is where your user has no Site Role assigned but the system is trying to take you into that Site anyway on login. Since you have no access though, it's not going to show you anything.

Bradley,
Yes, we really only have one site at this time since we are just
implementing our instance and the 'JMU' site is set as default for all
users. If I remove the default site should it temporarily fix the issue
then theoretically?

@lvin

Hi Alvin,
Removing the Default Site for these Users would drop the Users into the Global area upon login. However, after upgrading to 7.0.2 (which is now available from our downloads page), you will need to make sure that you reassign the Site Roles back to the way they were previously and then assign the Default Sites back to those Users.
Let us know if you have any questions. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Closing this issue as it was resolved in 7.0.2.
