Auto draft error when editing/uploading a file with parentheses in filename
Hi,
When uploading an image by Editing a file asset, a user of our 7.8
instance isn't able to crop the new image and/or submit her
changes. Sometimes the red, round, exclamation icon appears ("There
was a problem with saving draft automatically") and sometimes it
doesn't and the Edit tab simply remains active. In our case, the
problem seems to be related to the parentheses in the file name.
Attached is a recording of the behavior reproduced on my
browser.
Is this a known issue that has been resolved in a newer release?
Thanks,
Erik

Hi Erik,
Based on your description and demonstration, it looks like you are running into this known defect in which uploading a file containing an illegal character will sent you back to the file edit screen without displaying an error.
This issue also leads into this known defect in which staying on the edit screen will cause the auto-save draft process to repeatedly fail and eventually spam your logs.
Unfortunately, I do not have an official timeline for either issues, but please feel free to use these links to track the progress of this issue or keep an eye out for it on our Release Notes site.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Ryan,
I'll check back on the issue the next time we upgrade, which is typically twice a year (summer and Christmas break).
I used the tool Bradley recommended to record an animated gif of the behavior and it was helpful.
Thanks for the help.
