I have my Recycle Bin Expiration set to 15 days but it does not seem to be emptying the recycle bin automatically at all.

    Hi,

What version of the software are you currently using? Also, can you zip up and attach your last 5 days worth of cascade.log files? You can find them under tomcat/logs. If your Recycle Bin is not emptying on the schedule you've set, it's possible that it is encountering some sort of issue that is preventing anything from being purged.

The log files should help us determine whether or not that is the case.

    Thanks

Thanks for attaching those files. I don't see anything related to the Recycle Bin, so I'm curious to see if you are using Sites. If so, I want to mention that each Site object has its own Recycle Bin Expiration setting. Is it possible that you're looking at Global setting for Recycle Bin Expiration (under System Menu -> Preferences -> Content)? They are two separate areas of the system.

If you are having problems with a specific Site and you can confirm that the setting for that Site is 15 days, let's try the following (preferably during low usage times):

    • Enable DEBUG logging for the Recycle Bin category.
    • Navigate to your Site, then click on Home.
    • At the Dashboard, click the Recycle Bin tab and then click the 'Empty Recycle Bin' link.
    • Wait an hour or so, then attach your latest cascade.log file to this discussion.

At that point it should contain more information for us regarding the Recycle Bin and we can see if there are any problems.

    Thanks!

    Tim,

We are indeed using Sites. I was not aware that each Site had it's own setting. I thought the global setting controlled them all. I've got to go through and set each site to 15 days, then (ugh, there's a lot of them).

    Hi Dave,

I appreciate the update. Let us know if you have any further issues with the Recycle Bin once the expiration has been set for each individual Site.

    Have a good one!
